8MM & Super 8 Reels
8MM and Super 8 film were the most popular film formats for decades. In Postwar America, home movie making gained popularity as families wanted to capture and preserve their memories on film. 8mm film became the primary format for this purpose due to its affordability, ease of use, and availability of 8mm film cameras and projectors.
Many people have fond memories of watching home movies from the 1950s or 1960s on a reel-to-reel projector. These formats are the oldest in existence and often have the most sentimental value, but they also run the highest risk of deterioration. Don't wait any longer to digitize that box of reels in the basement - there may not be much time left!
